Produced in .9999 pure silver, these specimens include advanced security features and stunning original artwork by Julius Csotonyi.Sabre-tooth tigers roamed the Americas as far back as 2.5 million years before going extinct around 10,000 years ago. Their decline was largely due to the environment, a lack of food, and advances in human hunting capabilities. The sabre-tooth tiger is part of a genus known as Smilodon, named in 1842. Today, scientists recognize three known species in this genus, which are named S. gracilis, S. fatalis, and S. populator.The obverse of 2023 Canadian Smilodon Sabre-Tooth Tiger Silver Coins features Queen Elizabeth II in a portrait.
